Can You Live A Healthy Weight Loss Lifestyle?

Healthy Weight Loss Lifestyle
Significant change takes time, and small, continual steps are easier to maintain.

It’s a shame, but a lot of people think of “exercise” as a dirty word. The same is true for the word “diet”. The phrase “weight loss” brings up all sorts of negative connotations as well.

You’ve probably heard that 2 out of 3 dieters that lose a lot of weight quickly tend to put that weight back on. And often even pack on a few more pounds. Why is this? In many cases, this is because they make changes in their lifestyle which they couldn’t possibly maintain for any serious amount of time.

Starting Your Healthy Weight Loss Lifestyle

When you’re deciding how you’re going to go about losing weight, think about something you could practice as a lifestyle choice instead of a short-term plan that would most likely to fail. When you formulate some type of schedule or program for weight loss, make sure it’s something you could see yourself doing 6 months from now, and a year into the future.

Cutting your food portions by 20% is doable now. It will definitely lead to weight loss if you don’t have several helpings, and that’s something you could practice for the rest of your life.

Start slowly and build momentum. Imagine how many millions upon millions of walking steps you take in your life. Significant change takes time, and small, continual steps are easier to maintain than large, drastic actions.

The Swapping Game

Perhaps you could play the swapping game. This is where you substituting 1 or 2 healthy foods for the same number of unhealthy, fat-promoting foods each month. These may seem like small changes, but they get your mind and body into the habit of relentlessly and continually doing the things required for you to lose weight and keep it off.

It also means you can enjoy some of your fave foods every now and then, since you are not removing all fat-promoting foods from your diet at once. A healthy weight loss lifestyle should never be about depriving yourself.

Eat Slowly

When you eat more slowly, mindfully aware of each bite you take, the food’s texture, aroma, taste, touch, sound and feel, you begin to really appreciate your meals much more. This makes you aware of what you are eating and how you’re eating. When you chew all of your food at least 20 or 30 times, you promote good digestion and a healthy weight maintenance.

When you slow down your meals you get more nutrition, vitamins and minerals out of the foods you eat. You also begin to like a lot of the “diet food” you’re eating, when before you looked upon them as foods you “had to eat”.

Additionally, you are more aware of when you’re actually full, which means you eat less, promoting weight loss without depriving yourself of the entire sensory experience of mealtime.
