9 Tricks To Make Losing Weight Easier

Make Losing Weight Easier

There’s a good chance that you, and everyone you know, has been on a diet at one point or another.

We all get to a point where we realize we’ve gotten a little lazy on the fitness and diet front. It’s time to put a bit of effort in and shift those extra pounds. Only, it’s not as easy as it once was. It gets harder to do the older you get.

If you want to eat well, exercise, lose weight and keep it off, then you have to find tips and tricks that will make losing weight easier. Here are 9 to get you started.

How To Make Losing Weight Easier

1. Slow It Down

Your brain needs time to get the message that your body has had enough to eat. How will that happen if your face down, fork up to eat as quickly as possible? Take your time and enjoy your meal. You can slow yourself down by eating with chopsticks or by putting your fork down between every bite.

2. Smaller Plates

A smaller plate is going to make your smaller portion look much bigger. Scale everything down together, that way your brain doesn’t believe you’re getting less than you actually are.

3. Increase Your Fiber

Increasing your fiber intake can help you fight weight gain because it fills you up! You can eat more, count fewer calories, and still feel as though you’ve had a hearty, healthy meal. Amazing.

4. Remove The Lid

Have an open-faced sandwich. It’s a small choice to make, but it instantly drops 100 or more calories from your meal. Easy.

5. Always Eat Breakfast

You need to start your day off right! We’re not going to go into studies about breakfast eaters being leaner. We’re just going to point out the importance of a well-rounded breakfast. When you leave home, ready to face the day, you’re less likely to face cravings or temptation throughout the day. You won’t be desperate for lunch to roll around either. A great, healthy breakfast is an egg white omelet, you can stuff it with spinach and red peppers. Delicious!

6. Snacks

Nuts are an excellent snack. The risk with eating nuts, though, is they’re calorific if you overdo it. To that end, the best nut snack is pistachios! The trick being that the process of removing their shells will slow you down. According to a study from Eastern Illinois University, snackers consumed 41% fewer calories while eating unshelled nuts versus the snackers given shelled nuts. A one-ounce serving (49 pistachios) contains 157 calories.

7. Water-Filled Food

Choose foods that are high in water content. They’ll fill you up, and you’ll eat fewer calories. It’s a bonus if you start your meal off with something like this as it will help you eat less when you sit down to the main meal.

8. A Divided Plate

Here’s how to fill your plate without feeling deprived. One half of your plate should feature vegetables that are low-calorie, rich in fiber, and delicious. Now, with the other half, you’re splitting into two, even portions. One should feature your lean protein, the other your grain. It’s the perfect plate and it’s something you should aim to replicate at every meal.

9. Occasional Treats

You’re allowed to enjoy treats. The problem with calling specific foods bad is it often makes us want them more. You’re allowed sweet (or savory) treats that come in under 150 calories. Just account for them in your daily calorie count and watch your fat intake!
